The seed of an idea was sown as Rebecca and I were driving to Spokane last Friday. We were just north of Kennewick when we passed a tow truck. It was white with pink trim and a banner painted across the back of the cab that read “Towing for Tatas”. There were those little pink ribbons painted on the truck too. We honked and waved to signal our approval.
A couple days later while watching a football game and I noticed that one of the teams was wearing pink shoes and wristbands. Oh, I get it. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is upon us. (I’m running about a month behind due to my moving adventures!)
I began thinking about all the women I’ve known who have or have had breast cancer. Too many to name here. Most of them made it. Some didn’t. And I also remembered that Lila Ryder, the murdered man’s widow in THE MAN WHO WASN’T THERE, is dealing with breast cancer in the novel.
Too many coincidences, I told myself while soaking in the bathtub. (This is the place where many great ideas are generated.) Time to do something.
So here’s the deal: Even though we’re nearing the end of October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I want to do my bit to support the cause. From now through the end of November I pledge to dedicate 10 percent gross of all book sales to breast cancer research. My goal is to make a worthwhile contribution, so please take the time to order an e-book or paperback copy of an Emma Golden mystery novel. The offer is good on all sales of any of the three books in the series, so if there’s one you haven’t read yet, now is the time.
IF YOU ARE ORDERING A BOOK FOR YOURSELF, please help me personally by leaving a review on Amazon and/or Goodreads. Customer reviews can make or break an author, and I cherish each one. Or consider ordering a book for a friend. The gift-giving season is almost upon us!
Books may be ordered from this website or from me personally (signed/inscribed copies available), from Amazon.com, or wherever you purchase your e-books. Bookstores can order the book for you through their regular distribution channels. And, I have two signings scheduled so far for the month of November.
Please join me Saturday, November 14, 1-3 p.m. at Woodstock Wine and Deli, 4030 SE Woodstock Blvd., Portland, 97202–informal, taste some wines and meet the author. I also will be signing books on Saturday, November 28 from noon-5 p.m. at the Chehalem Tasting Room, 100 S. Center, Newberg, 97132 as part of the annual Thanksgiving in Wine Country.
Now, let’s raise some money for the tatas!
Great idea, darlin’. I’ll never forget that tow truck.
