In The Writer's World

The new babe in town is “The Difficult Sister.” Yes, she will be out and about in e-book form within the next two weeks, with paperback copies close on her heels.

About six weeks ago, having fulfilled my promise to myself to query at least 50 agents, I made a complete U-turn and decided to publish my second book in the Emma Golden mystery series as I did with “An Unholy Alliance.” I purchased rights to cover art I’d chosen more than a year ago, signed up with BookBaby.com, and am getting on with it.

This has been a liberating experience. I truly feel as if I am moving forward again after treading water for so long.  I’m too much of a hands-on, action person to be querying and waiting, querying and waiting. But the bigger problem is that I wasn’t getting any writing done on the third Emma book. There just weren’t enough hours in the day.

Once I started this process, I knew I was on the right path. I love the work of editing and publishing as much as I love writing. Being at the helm of a project such as this (and there have been countless in the past) makes me feel more alive than practically anything I’ve ever done. Joseph Campbell said “follow your bliss.” This is truly mine.

For those of you on Facebook, I’ve begun posting on my new Emma Golden mysteries page. This page is your go-to for frequent and timely updates on the book’s progress, not to mention photos of some of the places that influenced the book. Simply “Like” it and you’ll be in the know on every nuance of the book’s progress.

So stay tuned. After such a long wait, we are ready to roll.
